Ngayemela, blue-tail mullet, is a local favourite! One of the most sustainable and healthiest fish around, Ngayemela has been powering Top End indigenous communities for thousands of years.

It has white moist flesh and is very high in Omega 3.

Saltwater people in our region have been catching it with fish traps: our fishing crew is now using a 100m gill net set from the beach with a pulley system and catches fish from Nardimulk or Junewinya on our fishing crew’s country.

Ngayemela is our best seller in Maningrida, cooked on the fire wrapped in paperbark, in foil or on a grill.
